《列奥纳多》是关于当代科学技术在艺术和音乐中的应用，以及艺术和人文学科在科学技术领域的应用与影响的，在全球范围内具有引领位置的国际同行评审期刊。《列奥纳多》关注跨越当代艺术和科学之间人为界限的作品。该期刊以艺术家撰写的关于他们自己作品的带有插图的文章，以及历史学家、理论家、哲学家和其他研究人员的文章为特色，尤其关注与艺术、科学和技术相互作用相关的问题。
《装饰》杂志创刊于 1958 年，由清华大学主办，清华大学美术学院承办。《装饰》的高质量内容受到了诸多学术评价体系的肯定，包括：列入 CSSCI 来源期刊、在 AMI 评价中被列为“权威期刊”、中文核心期刊、中国人文社会科学核心期刊、RCCSE 核心期刊、中国科技核心期刊（社科卷）。作为中国专业设计师、设计教育者和设计专业学生的必备读物，在设计领域享有较高声誉。作为目前国内艺术设计类唯一的核心期刊，《装饰》以反映中国当代的设计实践与理论为己任，并因此具有极高的学术参考价值和文献价值。
2012年10月，清华大学与中国科学技术馆在北京主办了第三届”艺术与科学国际作品展暨学术研讨会”，《列奥纳多》董事会主席马克·赫伯特前来出席，这是《列奥纳多》与《装饰》的首次会面，双方提出了创办一份中英文双语学术期刊的设想。2018年，在《装饰》创刊60年之际，恰逢《列奥纳多》创刊50周年，期刊的执行编辑罗杰马利纳到访北京，出席了研讨会。同年，《装饰》杂志推出了特刊《列奥纳多50年》。2022年12月，双方在经历了长期的沟通与探讨之后，开始了正式的合作。
Leonardo is the leading international peer-reviewed journal on the use of contemporary science and technology in the arts and music and the application and influence of the arts and humanities on science and technology. Leonardo is interested in work that crosses the artificial boundaries separating contemporary arts and sciences. Featuring illustrated articles written by artists about their own work as well as articles by historians, theoreticians, philosophers and other researchers, the journal is particularly concerned with issues related to the interaction of the arts, sciences and technology.
Founded in 1958, Zhuangshi is sponsored by Tsinghua University and undertaken by the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University. The high-quality content of Zhuangshi has been affirmed by many academic evaluation systems, including being listed as CSSCI source journal, Authoritative Journal in AMI, Chinese Core Journal, Chinese Core Journals of Humanities and Social Sciences, RCCSE Core Journals , China Science and Technology Core Journal (Social Science Volume). As a must-read for Chinese professional designers, design educators and design students, it enjoys a high reputation in the field of design. As the only core journal of art and design in China at present, Zhuangshi takes reflecting the design practice and theory of contemporary China as its mission, and therefore of highest value for both literary and academic reference.
In October 2012, Tsinghua University and the China Science and Technology Museum hosted the third "Art and Science International Exhibition and Symposium" in Beijing. Marc Hebert, Leonardo’s Board Chairman was invited to come to participate in the opening ceremony. It was the first meeting between Leonardo and Zhuangshi. The two sides put forward the idea of establishing a bilingual academic journal in Chinese and English. In 2018, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Zhuangshi and the 50th anniversary of Leonardo, Roger Malina, the executive editor of Leonardo visited Beijing and attended the seminar organised by Zhuangshi. In the same year, Zhuangshi published a special issue entitled "Leonardo 50 Years". In December 2022, after a long period of communication and discussion, the two sides initiated formal cooperation.
